Returning to using social media
I used to use Twitter quite a lot back in I’d say around late 2017 to 2023, but ended up distancing myself from it because of how the platform began to change under Elon’s leadership. Since then I haven’t been active at all on the internet outside of occasionally posting my drawings to Pixiv/Twitter.
I want to return to posting things online a bit more in an effort to share my creations with everybody and be more of a social person within communities that I care about, though I’m not really sure how to go about it. Social media moves so fast and I have no idea how to keep up as someone who doesn’t pay any attention to that sort of thing. ^ ^;
As much as I dislike what Twitter has become, it is still a very powerful platform for visibility and getting your work out there for people to see so I’m still going to be posting there for the foreseeable future.
On top of this, I’ve also opened a Bluesky and a Tumblr page and I’ll be posting my stuff there too. I’m not really sure how this will go as I’m not really familiar with those platforms, but I’ll give it a shot and see what happens.
As much as I love sharing things to my friends directly via DMs and posting small updates to this website, I do also miss meeting new people and sharing my creations online for the world to see. Seeing as I’ve been learning to draw and began development on my own original video game, I feel like now is a pretty good time to try and ease myself back into returning to social media!
Either way I’ll continue to create things and share for everybody to see, nothing on that front is going to change :). I’m only talking specifically about how such content would be shared online going forwards. Outside of my old Twitter account, I’m very much a newcomer to how social media works but I’ll try my best to understand!
